The City of Sevierville is a home rule, Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BMA) form of government. The Mayor is elected at-large for a two-year term and is a non-voting BMA member. The BMA consists of five members elected to four-year terms.

The BMA and City staff place a high value on citizen involvement on committees and citizen participation in decision making. There are several boards and commissions that citizens are encouraged to serve on, including the following:

• Sevierville Planning Commission
• Board of Public Utilities (Power Board)
• Housing Authority
• Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
• Beer Board
• Sevier County Economic Development Council
• Tree Board
• Golf Advisory Committee
• Citizens Advisory Committee for the Historic Residential/Office District

The City maintains almost 180 miles of streets (as of January 2007) and encompasses about 21.2 square miles of land. In coordination with the State of Tennessee, several major road projects are scheduled to be completed in the near future, including the widening of Hwy. 66; widening and rebuilding of Middle Creek Road (Veterans Boulevard); and construction of a bypass from Hwy. 66 to Dolly Parton Parkway.

City and State spending on new road projects and existing road projects over the next 5 years is estimated at
$130 million.
